ANNUAL CARBON REDUCTION
4.13 Tonnes
Costa Coffee Drive Thru
Lynx Sustainable Solutions installed a 21.21kWp PV system at Costa Coffee’s Norwich location, which generates 19,898kWh annually while saving 4.13 tonnes of carbon per year and £5,633 in the first year alone.
The roof is a curved KS1000RW roof, and the structure uses internal panels fitted to the outside, running vertically to create the curve and then covered in a membrane. This design meant traditional mounting methods wouldn’t work and required a completely weatherproof solution.
Lynx Sustainable Solutions used ROOFTRAK® IFP250 Integrated Fixing Points to secure the array. This approach provided weatherproofing while allowing the optimal panel layout on the curved surface.
The installation is Costa Coffee’s participation in the Norwich Solar System project, demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainability and community-driven renewable energy initiatives.
The Norwich Solar System is a pioneering initiative led by Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) aiming to create the UK’s largest urban solar farm. The project transforms unused business rooftops across Norwich’s 750 BID member businesses into solar energy generators, establishing a local energy community that provides firms with lower-cost, locally sourced, sustainable energy while supporting the city’s net-zero carbon ambitions.
While this may be one of our smaller projects, the technical challenges made it one of our most striking installations, demonstrating how proper mounting solutions can overcome complex roof geometries.
